It’s no secret that the past couple of years have affected all of us in a less than great way, which means we tend to latch onto people telling us things will turn out fine. That’s what happened during our most recent interview with fashion model and Instagram celebrity, Lydia Bielen.
Lydia Bielen, a 22-year-old model from Georgia, US, rose to fame when she was scouted in a local restaurant, where she was working as a waitress. She took the opportunity that seemed to present itself, and soon got to traveling all across the world through her work as a model.
Through that, she got to see a lot of the world really fast. At an age where most of her peers were still stuck at home, struggling to finish college, and living with their parents, Bielen had already carved out an independent life for herself. Living alone, and traveling for work so much, not to mention working with so many new people on a regular basis, definitely changes one’s views and mentality. And we can safely say it affected Bielen for the better.
When we caught up with her recently, Bielen was up and about, a beam of sunshine in a world that seems to be often too cloudy. She touched on the pandemic, and how that’s affected the modeling world. Naturally, Covid-19 meant less travel, and overall, less work for models, much as it did for the rest of the world. But all in all, Bielen seemed to be pretty upbeat and hopeful about what the future holds (for her, as well as for everyone else).
We spoke about the importance of confidence, and how modeling has helped Bielen understand the importance of how one carries themselves.
“If I could go back and give my younger self advice, it would just be that I shouldn’t worry so much and that everything is going to work out. I would get really anxious before going to my agency or to certain castings, it’s something a lot of models’ experience. Being confident is probably one of the most important things. How you carry yourself says a lot about you, and that’s something I’ve learned over time. I was pretty shy before modeling, and I had to learn how to come out of that.”
Speaking to young Bielen, you can clearly see this is a woman with a clear head, that’s firm on her shoulders. She betrays none of the common angsts and insecurities of people her age, and instead manages to come across as self-composed and wise beyond her years.
She’s also someone who’s achieved most of her goals so far, confiding in us that one of her next ones includes being part of a campaign that’s featured in Times Square.
However, that’s not to say Bielen has forgotten where she’s coming from, which we think is the key to success.
“I attribute my success to my hard work and dedication to this career and the support of my amazing family and my manager Carlos who has helped me grow as a model tremendously.”
